Copy/Paste not working in Lightroom

I am re-posting this hither, after incorrectly posting in the 40D forum. I seem to be unable to re-create my Develop settings from one image, and and so paste them onto multiple selected images in Lightroom. So even though I accept multiple images selected, it only pastes the copied settings onto the start of the selected images. And I even tried to synchronize these settings, and nothing at all happens. Anyone have any hints on this? Thanks!
